What is the importance of playing board games?
I'm trying to write a persuasive speech on playing board games instead of video games.
Any ideas?
About a hundred years ago [In the life time of a few people still alive] There was no TV, radio, records, etc. The big thrill of the night was to gather around the piano and sing songs.
Board games esp chess, scrabble, and others, would have been an important part of the social interaction of those times. An excuse to get together, and structure the nights social activity around the playing of the games.
An argument I would make, is that the slower paced board games would allow for conversation, and more personal interaction, then a video game, which is more demanding of peoples attentions.
