Card Controller
i recently bought a dell laptop that doesn't have a modem but it has wireless mini card & ethernet controller?
recently i bought a dell laptop i was told that the newer models don't come with a modem. But it has a wireless mini card and a fast ethernet controller installed in it. my question is do i need to purchase a wireless router in order to connect to wireless internet? and do i also need a modem?
First, the modem. If you are never planning on using dial-up for internet, then forget about it - you won't need it. You won't need a router to connect to a wireless internet source if it already exists, but if you would like to have your own wireless in your home, then you will need one.
